Yes, 2021 is slowly behind us. And so, apart from the fact that we spend most of our time working on gaming equipment (after all, we create gaming that we would like to have ourselves), we share a passion for games in our free time. And of course we play… day and night. We have our favorite games, but at the same time we are eager to reach for new products. And there were a few in 2021 that we were happy to play. We invite you to read the opinion on the games played by MODECOM Volcano employees and which premiered in 2021.
Forza Horizon 5.
Finally ... After the great Forza Horizon 4 comes its successor, i.e. the fifth part of the sensational racer ... Great map, great locations (including the race on the volcano 😊), plus a lot of different cars and really great fun. In this game, you can feel the adrenaline of thrilling races, as well as total chillout during free car driving. In addition to dynamic races and the ability to play online with friends or against the computer, there is complete freedom to configure your ride. Even the change in tire pressure affects the driving model, and the probably infinite possibility of car configuration (rims, engine power, body painting, etc.) means that you can spend hours in the configurator ... And it is as much fun as driving your favorite car to the track. The icing on the cake is also the option of spending money, e.g. on buying real estate, or watching the Horizon Wheel draw - a wheel of fortune in which you can win cool prizes such as legendary cars or clothes. From the minuses? Where is Alfa Romeo I ask?!
Soccer Manager 2022.
An excel game for fans of the only football team manager simulator available on the market. We realize that it's a niche game, but we remember Football Manager from the times when it was called Championship Manager. So we've been playing it for a long time. Honestly? This game doesn't get old. However, has it changed compared to the FM2021 version? In our opinion, no. It's still a good game that can take days and months of your life, but it lacks a revolution. However, it is worth playing it, if only because of the team composition update. However, there is nothing in it that we did not see in last year's edition. Nevertheless, for fans of a good football manager, the game is still 10/10. The only question is - is it really so good, or is it why we rate it so highly, because there is no worthy competitor?
Age of Empires IV.
“wololo”… Yes, we played a great second part of AOE years ago. Now it's time for the even better part four. The game is complete, nothing is missing. What's more, thanks to the film inserts, it's really sensational. A great game for lovers of strategy and old AOE2. Many interesting solutions (such as ambushes in the forest), collecting resources, expanding the settlement, creating units ... The game can draw you in like no other. There is also more strategy in it. In AOE2, it was enough to gather resources, produce units and shoot them all at the enemy. Here you can play around - there are terrain elevations that will be appreciated by archers or crossbowmen. In addition, the aforementioned ambushes in the forest. You can now figure out how to defeat the enemy without having to play the "I will make more units than the enemy and flood him with the army" principle. What's more? Siege machines, building fortifications, deploying units, using special features of commanders - small flavors that add spice to the whole game. In addition, great respect for the already mentioned film inserts. If history lessons were narrated in this way, we would absorb knowledge like a sponge.
12 minutes.
But it's a strange game. Normally groundhog day, although more like "12 minutes" of groundhog actually. The point is that the day resets after 12 minutes of playing. We don't want to spoil what this game is about, because the sweetness comes from discovering the next parts of a rather confusing story. Suffice it to say that it is a terrifying story, but also fascinating at the same time. The game is very short, we beat it in just a few hours. Only after passing it, it turned out that it was only one possibility to complete it…. The game gives food for thought, can surprise, requires non-standard thinking. You will make wrong decisions, often with fatal consequences, but hey - it's nothing, because the day resets after 12 minutes 😉
Diablo 2 Resurrected.
New or old? It was with great pleasure that we returned to Diablo II. It is exactly as we remembered from years ago. Everything just looks nicer, better. But is it a better game than Diablo III? In our opinion, no. You can already see the outdated mechanics, we went through Diablo II many times and this story is already familiar to us. There is nothing new. From the pluses? Legendary loot is very rare - collecting a good set is really hard. But games used to be like that, you have to farm and farm until the chest or shoes we are looking for fall out. Do we regret the money spent on this remaster? Absolutely not, because the game is still a lot of fun. It's downright cult. And it's very fun to play. But did we need Diablo II Remaster more than the new Diablo? We have the impression that this remaster is a bit of a "fill the hole" in anticipation of Diablo IV.
Microsoft Flight Simulator.
It's hard to write about this game. Is it good? Yes. It's even very good. However, the problem with it is the same as with fish dishes. There are people who do not eat fish or seafood because they prefer pork chops. Even though the prepared fish will be the best in the world - some people won't even touch it. And we have the impression that it is similar with Microsoft Flight Simulator. This game isn't for everyone, but it's great. We played it briefly, because it is a terrible time-waster, but flying over your home city and looking for a place to live is a lot of fun. As well as flying over other great locations around the world. A game only for fans of this type of game. It did not stay long in installed games.
Humankind.
This is the long-awaited Civilization Slayer. But are you sure? We played Civilization from its first part, sitting with a dictionary in hand to figure out what it was all about. This was the Amiga era, and if memory serves, the first part of Civilization was on four 3.5" floppy disks. Then there was a great second part, we prefer not to talk about the third, and then a sensational IV, an even better V and a very good VI. Humankind was to challenge and stand against the legend. But it failed. Don't get us wrong - it's not a bad game, but it's far from Civilized. Humankind will probably be appreciated by people who have only recently played this type of game. However, for old veterans remembering Civilization I, this whole Humankind will just be a correct average. We went through it a few times and it flew out of the drive. Won't be back.
