What are we NOT waiting for in 2022?
Our desk with gaming accessories Volcano Gaming awaits new games. We are preparing new products for you, we test them in various games - both FPS and RPG, strategies, etc. After all, we need to know that we will launch products that will work great in various game genres. We test and play on the equipment that we introduce to the market, so we want to make the opportunity to play new and interesting productions even more enjoyable. And those in 2021 were like medicine. According to the principle "as many people as many opinions", we differ in the assessment of games and what we play. And since we're gamers ourselves, we know what we're waiting for... But we want to share with you what we're NOT waiting for and why.
FIFA 2023 (or other name but everyone knows what it is)
Nothing has really changed in this game over the years. Roster updates, slight changes to game mechanics… It's not enough. We realize that every new FIFA is something new for fans, but we are not "hardcore". We play FIFA occasionally, we know it has millions of fans around the world, but it's the same reheated chop all the time. It may still be tasty, but we'd like to see something new. Yes, we play FIFA on PC on a keyboard. Can be. And since the license for Electronic Arts for FIFA has ended, the game will most likely have a different name. But they're not going to make a new game engine, let's face it.
Songs of Conquest
A mix of genres of good old "Hirks" with RPG city management, army, etc. Maybe it will be something new, but there have already been many announcements of various games that were supposed to beat the legends. There were games like Humankind, which was supposed to be better than Civilization, the next parts of Heroes of Might & Magic also announced "more and better", and it turned out as it turned out - HOMM3 fans are still sitting at this production and waiting for a new city. We have the impression that Songs of Conquest will be a good production, but one that will die a natural death soon.
Starfield
It promises to be good. RPG in space. Travels. Discovering worlds. We feel it's going to be such a beautiful mix of Mass Effect and Fallout. There are only a few "buts". First of all, Bethesda accustomed us to good productions like Skyrim, but at the same time to fallout 76 (it took them a lot of time to fix this game and it's only thanks to the determination of the fans). It could be a good game, but knowing this studio, this game will be good in 2024, not 2022.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
An adventure game in the world of - in a sense - groundbreaking Avatar from before ... attention ... already 13 years! The film was visually impressive, but the narrative was not the best. The film delighted the sense of sight, but was nothing groundbreaking. The studio creating the game is said to work closely with 20th Century Fox and James Cameron. Only Avatar is not a world that causes the proverbial shivers on the body. The script and the plot was nothing new and innovative. We have a feeling that this will be another film-licensed production that will soon be forgotten.
Dune: Spice Wars
The movie was good. Even very good. Denis Villeneuve's Dune from 2021 is definitely better than David Lynch's. Still, the movie is far from the book. But the game? Apart from the great Dune and Dune 2, there wasn't a single game worth playing back in the Amiga era. We have the impression that this production was created on the wave of success of the 2021 film. It will be done too fast and too shallow. We bet one Volcano Lanparty keyboard that the game will not achieve an average 7.0 user score on Metacritic. Who of you accepts the bet?
Galactic Civilizations IV
The third part was nothing new. It's a typical 4X game, i.e. explore, expand, exploit, exterminate. It might be a good game, but it's not worth the wait. Why? Because there is a great Stellaris from Paradox Interactive. King of 4X gaming in space. With a great database of mods created by the community. Some Galactic Civilizations IV won't be able to defeat Stellaris. Only Stellaris 2 can do that.
Gotham Knights
This is a game worth waiting for. A game set in the world of Batman: Arkham. How good were those Batman parts! The plot, the pleasure of playing, this dark Gotham ... And the great role of the Joker ... a lot of interesting opponents, a lot of challenges ... not to play Batman and not get to know this story is a great loss. But…Gotham Knights without Batman? It's like a veggie cutlet with the taste of a normal cutlet. It won't be as "fun" as playing the Dark Knight here.
Need for Speed 2022
We had fun with Need for Speed Most Wanted (the first one). We had a great time with the other (old) Need for Speed games as well. But it hasn't been like that for years. Need for Speed is just the name of the legendary game. And nothing more. After all, there's a great Forza Horizon and the new Test Drive Unlimited is about to appear on the horizon (yeah!). NFS2022… Why??!!
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake
Seriously? Another remake? this game yet? Now we understand more that a remake of KOTOR is in the making. It's worth waiting for. But a Prince of Persia remake? No, thank you.
